Re-ask the question: I have a coolant leak that appears to be coming from under the timing chain cover. Before I tear this apart, is this a possibility? Should I be looking at something else?

you might wanna check to belt resistor. when it happened on mt(2000 firebird) I too though it was the intake gasket, so I started pulling $#!t off and saw the the leak was behind the alternator. After closer inspection, I noticed that tensioner had two pvc-like hoses, and one of them was cracked. So that saved me a lot of time and money. Your tensioner might still work but what that is, it has two purposes, the belt tensioner and is a water bypass.
