96 grand caravan

engine fuse keeps blowing when i crank the engine . it does not blow when key accesories is on. can someone please help.

Leave the key off, remove the starter relay and jumper contacts 30 and 87 (labeled on the bottom of the relay) on the relay socket. This breaks the starter circuit in half. If the fuse (fuse #5 ? in PDC) still blows you likely have a bad starter or shorted circuit to the starter. If the engine cranks just fine look towards the ignition switch. Before changing anything inspect the wire harness to the starter making sure it isn't shorted to ground.

Can you be more specific on which fuse is blowing? Is it 40amp fuse #5 in the fuse/relay panel (PDC) next to the battery or 3amp PTC fuse #10 on the fuse panel under the dash or some other fuse?
