Is this recently announced kit the original 'Eleanor'?

Hello, as Zoom-Zoom mentioned: not even close.
But if you want to build the real Eleonor, you can purchase the excellent ScaleProduction transkit here (http://www.automobilminiaturen.de/product_info.php?info=p1331_1967Mustang--Eleanor-.html).

Wasn't the original Eleanor a '73 Fastback?

I guess the answer either way is no.
If you are looking for the "Eleanor" from the 2000 version of Gone in 60 seconds, you need the transkit.
And it is entirely the wrong year, and trim level if you are looking for the orginal "Eleanor" from the 1974 version of Gone in 60 Seconds.
