Increase HP Help!
Impreza2.5i

Hi I'm looking for help as to what sort of mods I can add affordably to my 2006 Impreza2.5i to increase and maximize it's horsepower. I know nothing about cars but from what I've been reading it seems like a cool air intake and a new exhaust system is the way to go. Any other suggestions as what I can do to increase my horsepower affordably? Also, how much of a gain can I expect to see if I add a muffler versus an enitre cat-back along with an intake? If anyone could explain all the basics that would be great. Thanks!

Putting on just a muffler wont really do alot for power. you will get some sound out of it... and the looks of a nicer muffler. Addind a catback and CAI will make a difference in driveability... free up maybe in upwards of 20hp... One big difference in your car ... because my brother had the same one... i installed a lightweight flywheel in his and wow did that help... you know when u shift and the car takes a loooong time to let the rpms fall? well if its a 5 speed anyways... this will eliminate this problem and allow the car to rev up much quicker. u can also consider lowering it... if you live around the corners this will not only give youu a much better looking ride... but i will be able to hold whatever speed u are carrying into the corners much better... hence making your car faster... there are also some other options... pulley kits... jsut make sure there are not severely underdriven... and it should also the crank pully should be harmonically dampened... some cheep knock offs wont be dampened which doesnt allow for vibration absorbtion...some shop will also offer mild tunes for your car to add a lil pep...hope my advice helps you out
