Main 12V wiring question

I'm in the process of upgrading the wiring in my car, it's over
30 years and inadequate to handle all the new toys added.
In addition to adding an aux. fuse panel for added accessories,
I'm running larger gauge (#4) cables to the Original, and Aux.
Fuse Panels as well as the Amp and the 'Alternator to Battery'
cables. I've done this by installing a fused distribution block
(one 0 ga. in / four separately fused #4ga. out.) adjacent to the
battery.
At last, the QUESTION!
Is there any reason I shouldn't run the Alternator to Battery cable
thru the Dist.Block (rather than, direct to battery), and avoid
a separate in-line fuse?

most people that do the big 3 just wire the alt straight to the battery
