I have a popping sound in my front end of my 96. Only happens when I hit the breaks. Heard it may be my wheel bearing?

I posted about a year ago about the popping noise in my 96. Mine only happens when I turn right, sometimes when I hit a low place in road while turning right. I took mine to a reputable garage in my town and he put new a-frame bushings in it and pronounced it healed...it wasn't. I put in a new ball joint; that still didn't fix it. I'm about ready to trade it off!!

There was a service bulletin regarding the torque strut (the "dogbone" mount under the front of the engine) causing a popping noise. Check that the mount is good and the bolts are tight.

Hope this helps.

It could be any of the following components...

Sway bar bushings or link kit.
control arm bushings
Strut mounts.
Ball joint
tie outter tie rod - less likely

Its possible its the lower dog bone since they are rubber pieces of garbage, hell any of the bushings on the car are and is reason to swap to polyurethane.

Most of the time its the sway bar bushings needing to be replace or the control arm bushings. When you do this, replace them with poly ones and use a shit ton of grease. This stops any popping sounds.
