Hey all !
Before I give the details about my jeep, I just want all to know I feel like the vibration in the front end is NOT DEATH WOBBLE. :shakehead
I have a 99 TJ wrangler with 90 K miles on it. It has new 30" tires, factory 15"
"Grizzly" wheels, new rotors, steering dampener, alignment. 4.0 Liter engine,
NO ANTILOCK brakes.
The vibration occurs only above 55 MPH. The steering gear leaks at the top seal where the steering shaft meets the gear box shaft, which I believe was caused by the vibration. The stabilizer links are worn due to the vibration. I have replaced them twice. I have taken the jeep to a Firestone tire store and had them check all the steering linkages of which they said they were all tight (when I bought my tires). The only things I could possibly think of that might be wrong is maybe I have a bent axle rod with worn bearings. The reason i think that, is I hit a bad pot hole on a trip home from Canada. The drive line chirpped for about a week then stopped.
That was before I bought the tires and had everything checked.
The other thing that might be a problem would be I had to tighten up the transfer case bolts one time and that is what holds up up the whole middle drive train....shfts and all.
Please help if anybody has any idea. If I did not supply enough info I will gladly find out for you!
Thanks a bunch!
Todd

Could've thrown a weight off and be an out of balance wheel. Out of balance wheels typically vibrate over 55 mph. Plus check the tie rods and ball joints for play.

Did the tire balancing fix the problem? That was my first thought also...you didn't say if the vibration started when you had the larger tires put on or existed before.
