What's up JD? So, you have a GS-R, right? Well, a friend of mine is looking to get one soon, but I was wondering if you had any advice for him in terms of what year-range he should look for, any problems or recalls for any years, and maybe what the price range should be.

Also, how do you like your car? Pros and cons, maybe? And, what's your insurance like on it (if you have a comparison to any other cars)

Yeah baby, you know you're living large when you get personalized posts on a web board. Right on!!

Ahem, anyway, I'd get an ODB1 GS-R, preferably a '94 or '95. You get nice GS-R rims from models of those years.

I think I pay about $2,500 a year in insurance. But, I didn't get my license until I was 20, so that keeps my cost higher than those who got their licenses at age 16, 17, etc. And, I also have a completely clean driving record, believe it or nor. I don't know of any recalls. I will recommend to him that the trouble spot, if any, has been the valves. If they start to tap, address it and adjust them accordingly as soon as you can. But don't let this scare you off.

Oh and Enzo, I seriously recommend to your friend that he consider getting a GS-R sedan, unless he's dead set on the coupe. Those of us lucky enough to own GS-R sedans consider ourselves a part of an elite club, and those with coupes to be sort of on the outside looking in.

Anyway, if he wants any tuning advice as well, I'd be glad to help him out.

I'm sure he'll be interested in some bolt-on advice, but he's not a major enthusiast. Yeah, right now he has an 89 4 door (I think it's an 89) but he wants something nicer, but I believe he's still going for the 4 door (plus, he's got a not so clean driving record, so that will help).

Thanks alot, and I or he will probably contact you again.

Peace.

Not an enthusiast, huh? When I got my GS-R, it was "aftermarket schmaftermarket."
This car has changed my thinking.

BEFORE SELECTING AN EXACT YEAR DO A SERVICE BULLETION RUN ON THE MAKE AND YEAR. YOU WOULD BE SUPRISED AT WHAT YOU CAN FIND PROBLEM WISE, FOR THE MOST PART INTEGRA'S ONLY HAD SMALL PROBLEMS BUT SOME YEARS HAD MORE THAN OTHERS.
