Hi, I have a 1995.5 Honda passport v6 and I just recently changed the timing belt, water pump, etc. Now I have a cooling problem with my car. In the city, it drives fine without overheating, the temp gauge only start climbing after 20 miles plus of freeway driving. No leaking anywhere as I just changed the cheap $2 dollars O-rings. Pain in the A** to take everything apart just to get to it. While changing things out, I actually broke the fan shroud, so I just left the fan shroud out. I am wondering how important is the fan shroud as far as cooling the radiator. That thing looks like it is suppose to protect your hands or other body parts from getting caught by the fan. What might be the solution to my cooling problem. I think I probably need a new radiator given the age but I only have 115k on this truck. My 98 nissan has 150k and still has the same radiator. thank you all for your input. have a great day.

GET THE Fan shroud BACK in asap! It's very important for the overall cooling of this truck.
Miles on a vehicle doesn't matter versus age of all the parts inside the truck, yes, a new radiator could be in order given the year of your truck. I replaced my original radiator 2yrs ago on my '97 Rodeo, nothing was wrong with it, but it was showing lack of good flow.
I would start with putting the fan shroud back in, that's designed to pull air in towards cooling the engine, without it, the air goes everywhere but where it's needed.
Don't keep driving it this way, you overheat that engine even one good time, it will warp the heads, not too mention overheating your automatic tranny, if it's an auto.

thank you, i just jb welded the fan shroud back together, it should hold up. Hopefully it will stop overheating after I put it back on but I have a feeling that I need to replace the radiator anyway, so we'll see whether he fan shroud will make a difference or not.

i think your right on having to replace radiator. have you tried flushing it out or do you see green on outside of it? if so you can bet on a plugged up one or only half of the rad half of it cloged.
