hey my uncle just gave me his 99 pontiac gtp. it needs a fuel pump ( power going to the pump and no pressure at the rail).
most places carry the whole fuel pump assembly for roughly $200 - $400. however, i found a few places that sell just the pump for $50 - $100. http://www.directauto.com/product-exec/product_id/30206/nm/1997_2002_Pontiac_Grand_Prix_6_cyl_3_8L_w_supercha rger_Rebuilt_Fuel_Pump
just wondering if anyone has ever done these and what is involved. i know with my 240sx its a relatively bolt in procedure.

I never go aftermarket on fuel pumps-- just don't like the idea of changing them a lot-- let alone going rebuilt and aftermarket- sure the price looks good- but somehow, sitting away from home waiting on a tow truck is not my idea of fun- and I can justify the extra cost by avoiding the frustration I read about on a lot of these forums....I might try it on my old POS truck sometime-- but never the wife's vehicle.....

yeah i hear you, but its a easy pump to do (atleast the assembly) and i got the car for free. for some reason i just can justify spending the extra money on the whole assembly when just my pump is bad. so i think im going to order one (not that rebuilt one) i will let all you guys know how it turns out. if it fails it fails i have another car anyway.
