b16a1 is the first gen b16a that comes of a 88/89-91 civic/crx. the b16a2 comes off a 99-00 si. the b16a3 comes off a 94-97 del sol and a b16a sir2 comes off a 92-95 civic or an integra xsi (or something like that). those are not the only cars and there are some more. i'll see if i can find a list where it shows which engine comes out of which car.

that is true, but i think that if it doesn't have a number it could either be a first gen or a second gen b16a. the only way to tell the difference from a b16a1 and a b16a sir2 is by what tranny they have, colors of the engine harness plugs(white=1st gen, grey=2nd gen) and if you look at the serial code under the engine code if its a b16a1 the number will start with one indicating the 1 million series b16a's and on the b16a si2 the serial code will start with a five indicating the 5 million series b16a's. i pretty sure this is what i heard, but if someone else has something different let me know.

now i'm not a honda guy, but a lot of my friends are. JDM honda engines do not have #'s after the call letters. my friend has a b18c j-spec in a 92 dx. i'm almost positive you got a jdm, you lucky bastard:)

yeah 94 civic is right, the jdm b16a1 and a2s dont come stamped on the block just the b16a. the a1 and the a2 are both j spec engines, so it doesnt really help.
did u get an ecu with the engine ? if u did then that will settle it all cause if its a pr3 or pw0 then its a b16a1. if its the p30 then its the b16a2

uh...guys...the b16a is the 170hp motor...the a1/2 both come w/ 160hp. yes u guys are rite when u say it'll only have the b16a stamped...BUT the a1/2 are both 160hp motors from the 99-00 si an 90-91 siR.

The JDM B16A siR (II) and the EDM B16A2 from the 92-94 vti's ran the same. You can't say the B16A has such and such hp,because it has two different compressions depending on when it was made.It doesn't matter what it has stamped on the block,it matters what car it came from.

i kno this...it's (b16a1/2/3) in the 89-92 Civic 1.6i/VTi, 90-91 CRX SiR/SiR II, 90-91 Civic Si-R/SiR II, 94-97 Del Sol VTEC, 99-00 Civic Si ...ALL of which come with the 160hp rating. the 92-95 Civic SiR/SiR II, 92-96 CRX SiR/SiR II, 96+ Civic Vti, 96+ Civic SiR/SiR II had the b16a4 (which has b16a stamped on it) which pushes the 170hp (all of which are jdm). an yea...they vary from 10.2:1 (160hp) to 10.4:1 (170hp)
point of the arguement: b16a1/2/3 ALL come with 160hp, NO MATTER THE YEAR OR CAR IT CAME IN! its still the same motor...

will u actually READ wut im saying. i said earlier that they came w/ 160hp (the b16a1/2/3). AND SOME COME WITH 170 HP (the b16a4/b16). i write out for u that the b16a4 IS THE SAME RATING AS THE B16A! i wrote the name twice, because i copied the list so i didn't have to think them off the top of my head (sorri, but its not a huge priority to kno wut all the b16's came in)
ok...READ THIS! b16a4/b16 170hp (I SAY THAT IT HAS b16a stamped on it! NOT b16a4). b16a1/2/3 160hp. that is exactly wut i say below, but i list wut cars they come in. i've said it in BOTH posts, if u'd slow down to actually read them an not jus see wut U want to see. u want me to copy an paste this again so u'll actually read it correctly? ok, before u make some comment back that really makes no sense, READ THIS AGAIN AND AGAIN UNTIL U REALIZE WUT IT SAYS! the numbers an the stats are correct.
o...an so u kno...jdm is the same thing as the "asian" version as u call it... jus cuz u were wrong...doesn't mean u have to TRY to pick apart someones post...i kno mine is correct an i kno my numbers are correct. check more then one source, an u'll find my stats are correct.

Don't get all pissy dude. The problem with what you are saying is that the EDM B16A2 from 92-95 is the same as the siRII from 92-95 and has 168hp,because they both run the same compression and are the same motor. The B16A4 IS NOT THE JDM since the JDM motors don't have numbers in the code. It's ok,your just a little miss informed. It's had find out info on the internet, but I have written Honda about it,pulled a ton of them out of their respective chassis, not to mention I live in Europe where all the motors are availible. You don't need to try to post something else in your defense because I don't care and...

the SiRII JDM (92-95) comes with a b16a2/3 an has 160hp. THEN the b16a4 comes in the 96+ Civic SI-RII. they are 2 different ratings in different years. sorri to break the news to u, but u've been misinformed. the 92-95 vic's never had a b16a2 that pushed 170hp. that was my WHOLE point...the b16a2...thats rite 2...never pushed 170hp. only the b16a/b16a4 pushed 170hp.

the 92-95 sir2 never came with a b16a2/3. the del sol came with the b16a3 and the 99-00 si came with the b16a2. the sir2 motor is a b16a. the only way to tell if it was a sir2 is by looking at the serial number and if it starts with a 5 then its the 170hp motor or by looking at the plugs which are supposed to be gray if its a b16a sir2.

men I have a94 civic dx with ajdm b16 swap, I did it my self (sort of ) and is been hell..... I really hated my engine cuz all the problems I get into. the lates one was this hasport mounts I bougth and didn't fit my engine and when I wen I complained to the store they said I had the wrong engine.... I found out they just got my on my inorance.... my b16 reads 5425353.....but they gave me the gsr mounts (left one 3 bolts) and mine has 2. the ting is that they did make me belive I had a 91 engine. now what's de deal with the ecu? I have p30 but some people tell me that with the p28 they run 14 in the stock motor... I run 15.7 is it the ecu?or just my newbe ass?

First off, please don't bring back old threads to ask unrelated questions, start your own thread.
But I know what you're talking about with Hasport. I helped my friend do a swap last summer and we had the same problem, they sent the wrong driver's side mount (3-bolt instead of 2-bolt), although his engine was a GS-R engine. From what I understand it's almost a hit or miss type deal, where some b-series engines have the 2-bolt and others have the 3-bolt. You should just send it back to them and get it replaced for their 2-bolt mount. The people who are using the P28 ecu have it chipped to run with the B-series, so unless you plan to get it chipped (I'd advise against it) just use the P30. I highly doubt people have gained a second in the quarter mile with just the ecu swap, they must have had other parts to increase power as well. You could get your engine to beat him, there isn't a lot of power difference between them, so even some aftermarket cams (and upgraded valvetrain) and a better header could probably help you get the power to beat him. But it also comes down to who is the better driver, no matter what the power difference is.
