'Meet threads' cleanup

The Meet Threads (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=108125) could stand some maintenance. Most of them were started years ago, and many of them have posts with pics that no longer work. It would be cool to have the Meets section functioning as a real gallery, instead of having to wade through a bunch of dead pics and useless posts. So, they are going to get some cleanup.

-All posts with nonfunctional pictures will be scrubbed
-All 'nice build' and 'where can I get that kit', etc., posts will also be scrubbed.
-All posts with LINKS to pics will be edited to place unlinked the pics in the post, or be scrubbed.

Hopefully each page will then be fifteen posts of pics of models members here have built- so we can view them purely as galleries for fun, reference, and building inspiration.

What this means is, you have the chance now to fix any of your own dead pics before posts are scrubbed. Especially for you older members, please review meet threads that you may have posted in, and fix any nonfunctional pics. If your images need to be rehosted, please do it with one of the large, reputable, 'permanent' host services like Photobucket.

NOTE: For those of you using Firefox 3, posts can be edited by right-clicking the edit button, and selecting Open Link in New Window.

The cleanup will probably start a week from now. We'll start with Ferrari, BMW, Porsche, and Lamborghini, :naughty: and then more on from there.

If your username is on this list, please fix your images!!

mbwoods- Ferrari, BMW

If you are editing an old post (or starting a new one), please:

-Say the car/bike you've built
-Say the kit(s) you've used
-Post your pics directly in the post. NO LINKS!!
-Say what you've done with your build (Ex: this is the Tamiya kit with some S27 PE parts. I changed the camber, and painted it with TSxx. The decals are temporary skin tattoos....)

Pics of builds are cool, but pics and descriptions saying what we're looking at are much cooler.

Saying 'here are mine' is rather unnecessary.

This should be stickied. I think it's a great idea, most of the car forums in here do this regularly .

Most people don't even know these meets exists and just start new threads, even though the meets themselves are stickied in the gallery.

Very good idea!
Having those threads stay on top of the gallery sub-forum would be nice too.

Indeed, maybe a stickied "Meets Only" folder that would be a bit more obvious. Then just throw all the model-meet specific folders in there, and emphasize the "please no comments" rule.

Actually, they do stay at the top of the Completed/Gallery subforum.

If you look at the three sticky threads at the top of Completed/Gallery, one of them is a directory for all meet threads.

We'll give the directory some maintenance also, and see if it can be made a bit more clear.
