Engine swap.. general questions

hello, i am in the middle of an idea. i have a 2000 2wd with a 4.3, now i would like to take a late model silverado with the vortec 5.7 and put it in my truck, mu questions are, how hard is this? how differant is the wiring? will my trans work now that i have?? do i have to get a 350 fuel pump?? any other insight would be good, thank you!!

If you change the engine from the factory engine it must be the same to meet federal emmisons law and if caught you can be subject to massive fines.

well im from michigan, so we dont have those laws, besdies that, im still gonna put high flow cats on it anyhow, but was just hoping for some general informations
