My trunk release stopped working, both key fob, and in car, and since the '06 has no key release, my trunk is useless right now. The release handle from inside the trunk does work, and there are no blown fuses. I'm stumped, does anyone have an idea of what's wrong?

Do your backup lights work? Can you start your car in Neutral?
Is it possible your PRNDL switch is out of alignment causing your trunk release to not work?

The car will start while in neutral, the reverse lights however will not come on.
I'm not sure how to check if the PRDNL switch is aligned or not, but I do not have any problems shifting.

Right, but the shift linkage is connected directly to the manual controll valve in the trans. The PRNDL switch is used by the PCM and wiring systems to know what gear you select.
Go to this thread in order to check out the alignment of your PRNDL switch.

For some reason I think the fact your reverse lights dont work in conjunction with no remote trunk release points to a flaky PRNDL switch. Try and adjust it to get your backup lights to work, car starts in park, and in neutral. Then try the operation of your remote trunk release and get back to us.

Is the OP sure no fuses are blown? Double check any marked B/U LP which feeds the 12 volts to the transmission range switch (PRND321 switch) and check the 12 volts at that fuse socket. That fuse is before the transmission range switch for the backup lamps and the 12 volts to the trunk release relay. Not sure about '04 and up but on '97-'03 the fuse is shared in those circuits.

Good point Bob, I had no idea the circuits share the same fuse.
