So I'm reading threads, and now we have all kinds of cutesy links to words like car and engine now. Even the c a r name Ferrari is now linked.

Gee, thanks. Never knew I needed those cutesy little spam-flavored popups.

Can't get an email notification from subscribed threads, can't do a decent search, but can get more spam links.

Sheesh...

What are you talking about? I haven't had or sen any problems lately, except for low modeling activity (and I'm to blame for that!).

I don't get any of that either.
Might be because of the browser settings.

It's been the same here, for the last 6 months or so!

The highlighted links seem to have gone away. They weren't on very long, but long enough to think someone wants to make extra $$ every time a cursor happens to go across the little links. They're no less annoying here than any other site they're on, but this is the first forum site that I've ever seen with them embedded in everyone's posts. That's pretty low; the embedded ads were bad enough (though are also missing now...yay...for the time being...)

Email still dead.

The email notification thing has me a bit disturbed as well.

My understanding is that the edit button and email notification are issues that will be addressed when AF goes through its next software upgrade. So a fix is likely coming (sooner or later), but it also may get worse before it gets better.

Meanwhile, for the edit button-

For those of you using FF3, right-click the edit button, and select open link in new window. ;)

Any indication when this will be, Andy? I know that it's out of your hands but as a Mod I guess you do have some influence ;)

TBH - and of course from a purely personal point of view - the mail notification element is an important feature the impacts on getting the most enjoyment out of AF by allowing me to stay "up to date".
AF is generally a great site for me because of the content here but sometimes it's hard to bite one's tongue at how (seemingly) poorly the site is administered for what is after all, I guess, a commercial venture.

PS I am not ranting :D I am just sharing one point of view. Sometimes it's good to know what the "customers" are thinking ;)

Well, I never have any posts that are worth while, so I am not bothered by my lack of email notification...in fact I'm pleased to see my email box empty from time to time. lol

What IS upsetting is the inability for me to do a quick reply. It just won't post. Don't know if it's on my end, or what, but it's quite irritating that after I type a post, I then have to click go advanced just to make a "quick post".

All I know is that Igor and the techies have been looking into it, but the upgrade will take some time.

But mods have been complaining about this stuff, too. Its gotta happen sooner or later.

If you want to get rid of the ads, get Adblock Plus for Firefox. Gets rid of 99% of all web ads, it's great. :)

It's the Chaos Principle at work: Normal messages post pretty quickly, while Quick Replies take forever. I've seen that brilliant software innovation on other vBulletin forums. I'm looking forward to the day when "Previous Thread" takes you to the next thread, and so on.

I'm a pro with vbulletin forums.

I have a lot of experience with vB based forums and it probably is a template problem.

Could be fixed really easy.

(I'm having the quick reply error too)

I could not agree more. This is the best add-on for firefox imo.
