01 sentra air/fuel sensor

code flashing is 1273 air fuel sensor. anyone know the reliability of these things? they are very pricey and i dont want to shotgun one just to find it doesn't fix my prob. car is calif emissions. ideas? do these fail very often?

Are you sure its not a p01275 code? If so it needs the ecm reprogramed to fix this. No 1273 code for an 01' unless that is a generic code reader.

positive it is a p1273: air fuel ratio (a/f) sensor (sensor 1) lean shift monitoring.

this is a sentra CA which has the intense emissions restrictions. car runs slightly better when i unplug it but it is still not road worthy.

Go to this site for a Factory Service Manual:

Scroll down to Sentra, click on it and choose year.
Go to section EC then to page 1203

This page has the diagnose procedure to follow to dtermine if sensor is faulty or if a wiring problem.

after many hours of intense wire chasing and compent testing, i found the plug in the lower side of the intake tube had fallen out. car was getting a huge amount of unmetered air. installed the plug and VIOLA, it ran like a champ.
