I have a 01 Rodeo, which is still under warranty. It has only 55k on it. I was told that the CV boots are torn and needs replacement. Are these covered by the 10Y/100K warranty?

Most likely not, they are a wear item. You can always call isuzu corporate and ask though (google their 800 number).
The problem is the cv shafts are always turning even in 2wd because 2nd gen rodeos use a drive flange instead of locking hubs. This is why alot of us put manual locking hubs on, especially after doing a lift. It means manually locking the hubs in instead of just pushing the button on the dash but its not that big of a deal. If it looks like I might need 4wd that day I just lock in the hubs before leaving, doesnt hurt anything. And the other 95% of the time that I wont need 4wd the shafts are no longer turning.
