Emergency break sensor not working?

Hello,

I have an '02 Grand Cherokee and it seems like the emergency brake sensor isn't working. From what I can tell it seems like the brake itself IS working just the sensor indicating that brake is up...isn't.

Is there a fuse that needs to be replaced for this type of thing or something more?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Are you talking about the red BRAKE light in the instrument cluster?
If so it may be a bulb, the light should be visible when you turn the key to START..Self test ...
Don't know about a fuse - a bad fuse would cause a lot of other things to quit also.

Yes, it comes on when I start up but when the parking brake is pulled up it doesn't.

Then it sounds like the parking brake switch.
