Windshield Wipers Anyone?

My windshield wiper pump is malfunctioning. When the switch is activated to start the flow from the windshield wiper fluid reservoir, the pump doesn't make the humming sound which led me to believe it was the pump that needs to be replaced. Replacing the pump didn't help anything and the line wasn't clogged. :banghead: I am going to check to see if there is 12V supplied through the line, but what do I do if there is not?? Better yet, what do I do if there is? How much could this cost me :shakehead or is this something I can do by myself?

If you don't see 12V at the plug when you press the washer button, check the ground wire from the pump for a good connection. Then trace back the power wire to check for cuts rubs or breaks. And of course, check the fuse for that circuit.

If you DO see 12V, then it's possible, though unlikely, that you got a bad pump. OEM is recommended here over a "universal" type which just don't have the reliability.

If you see voltage but not 12V, then check your battery, alternator, and grounds again for good connections and no corroded or fatigued spots. Good luck!
