I'm new to this site. I have a '95 Avalon, the window motor over-heated before i bought the car, i recently replaced the motor but its very sluggish, it will work in the mid-one-third of the track, but it won't go all the way up or down all the way. It seems that there's extra friction in the cabling system somewhere, of course. Do you think that i need to replace the entire cable system, or is there a certain part that goes out in these? thank you for your imput.

Yup. That may be why the first motor died. If you can't find where it's binding on the track or the side guides I would just change the whole shabang (window regulator assembly).

If the glass looks like it is crooked when going up, or tilts abnormally while it rises, that is a sign that the regulator (the metal and plastic track) is worn out.

Once that is replaced, a good rag or paper towel (lint-free) sprayed with silicone lube run around the window glass rubber seal will help keep things running smooth without getting too messy. Armor-All or equivalent works to a lesser degree as well.

New tracks typically come pregreased. Make sure the grease is evenly spread along the track.

Finally, I have noticed that the tracks are formed from stamped and cut steel, leaving a sharp edge where the plastic window support rides. A savvy person might deburr those edges to help reduce wear on the plastic. A fine, flat hand file should make quick work of removing that sharp edge...not too much or you'll end up removing too much of the edge and creating excessive slop between the support and frame. Be sure to clean any metal shavings from the track, etc.

Hope this helps!
