My co-worker has a '92 S10 with a 4cyl 5 speed 2 wheel that won't keep one of the plugs in the head. It is either totally stripped out or is very badly damaged.
What are his options?
I told him the best bet would be remove the head and take it to a machine shop to have it fixed and then reinstall it. Getting another head would be a choice I guess.
Any ideas welcome.
Thanks

They make a thread insert and tool for installing them.
Works most of the time.

Most good parts stores have them, tell them you need a "spark plug heli-coil repair kit". The kit will have 2 or 3 different lengths of inserts in it. Match up the correct thread length of your spark plug, follow the directions on the package, and install it. There's nothing to it, takes about 10 minutes.
