Charging nightmare

So my 68 400 runs fine but the alternator will only put out about 4 volts. New alternator(does work), new regulator and new condensor on the regulator. As soon as i disconnect the battery car dies. I am ready to throw in the towel on the car.

First of all that way of testing the alt. is not recommended. Have you looked a wiring diagram to make sure everything is connected properly between the ign, regulator and alternator?

yes I believed there must be a problem with the wiring connection.perhaps you need to analyzed it before you jump into conclusion.
