How do you remove your hood?

So, the biggest pain about these cars is removing the hood at the track or at home solo. it sux having to always ask someone to help. Devin and I have come up with an idea for a simple device to make track sideor garage hood removal a snap without an extra person.

Wanted to get an idea on how some of you were doing this? i assume just asking for help.

I put together a system in the weekend for lifting my hood at home in the garage. Basically just four small pulleys attached to beams in the garage roof. I have run 5mm ropes through these and attached hooks to lift the bonnet (on my car I hook these onto the bonnet latching fittings). I ran all four ropes off to an eye bolt in the wall so that when you pull all four ropes together it lifts the bonnet off level. It can then be raised to the roof and tied off up there for storage. It makes lifting the hood a reasonably easy single person exercise. Will take picture and post.

I use a similar system in my garage (does double duty for lifting the hardtop off my Jeep). At the track, I beg for help - a real PITA.

we plan on starting our prototype this week -- if succesful, it will be totally portable and lightweight.... stay tuned.

Squerly, I actually considered the suction cup idea -- was going to get two of the suction devices we use to raise the tiles off the floor of the datacenters....but, that idea lasted about 10minutes..... LOL

I'm assuming the fiberglass hoods are sturdier than the plastic cars. I just ask the GF for help when I'm at home and at the track my father is there to help out as we both use the car.

My buddy races a GTS Viper in the VRL and has a pulley device in his garage/shop for his car. At the track he just gets help.
