Well it finally arrived. Some of you told me to keep you posted on how it works with a d16z6 and pm6 ECU, well here goes.

First of all, the installation wasnt all that bad. a few bullet terminals, and an ECU pin out and i was ready to go. I started off with extreme settings just to see if i could feel a difference. Lets just say its night and day.

I can say this: I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

Being able to richen up the fuel @ VTEC is AWESOME. Its made a new car out of my civic and now im hooked.

The controls are simple but thorough. You have a simple fuel controller, vtec @ any 100 rpm increment starting at 2000, an adjustable shift beep indicator, speed limiter bypass, & digital tach and its all in one little box.

I can definately feel a difference in power. Now all i have to wait for is some dyno time, which might be a while since the closest dyno to me is about 1 hour away and not cheap.

Well you wanted me to keep you posted, here it is.

peace.

Ami: I know what you mean about the engine feeling hot even though the gauge says its good. I noticed that it feels really hot almost immediately after i start it up, but a little "face close to the engine" detective work and i found out that its the header heating up the engine bay, even though my strut tower bar and valve cover are always blazing hot.

civicHBsi91: I belive he sells alot of them. I've seen auctions about 4 times where the same guy, Japandy, was selling Field units. He lives in japan so i guess they are easy to come by over there.

i have a d16z6 with a fields in my crx and im guessing you have tweaked with the fuel settings alot sence you have had the controller, what are the best settings you have found?

talk about back from the dead :eek7:

you might talk to civicHBsi91. i sold my field VTEC controller to him.. now i use an Apex-i SAFC with an rpm activated switch.

anyways your settings really depend on what ECU you're running. with the PG7 ECU, i had every fuel point under vtec set at about -5% and then VTEC was 0% and i belive like 7,000 & 8,000 rpm i had it set at about +2%.

If you have a PM6 this will be different. I just tuned it by listening to the engine and making some runs and stuff, now i have an air fuel gauge, but i still havent taken it to the dyno :(

yes it is, get a d16z6 head, bolt it on, get a p28 ecu (civic ex) plug it in and run the vtec wire and the 2 oil pressure wires to the ecu and your done, you might as well pick up a d16y8 intake manifold while your at it for a little more HP.

I don't know Much about the field unit but if it's anything like the Apex'i V-AFC that I have it's pretty good. I got mine Brand New for 229$ shipped from a place in CA called Grupp-S I'm probably gonna get a Apex'i Twin chamber BOV too from them.

An AFC kicks ass I get it to control my 450cc injectors i'm gonna use on my turbo... but the tuning i get in the mean time kick ass.
