Damn aftermarket

Some may remember I had a rumble in the front end for a couple of years that I ignored for the most part because it didn't seem to be getting any worse...which ultimately turned out to be the right front hub bearing...

I replaced it with one from Carquest in June of last year, didn't really put a lot of thought into it, and everything was fine until this August, when she began to rumble again...

No problem, I thought, the other side is going bad. They tend to do that...

I was trying to ignore it until I felt like doing it, but it quickly became more pronounced and got to where it felt like I had broken glass and shrapnel instead of a bearing...

So today I set out to replace it...And found it was actually the same one I replaced last spring...:banghead:...less than 18 months old, not even 6,000 miles on it.

One year warranty, of course...:shakehead:crying:

This time I got one from O'Rielly's, my choices were a National/BCA...built in Korea...:confused:..or a My-T-Fine or whatever their house-branded Chinese junk line was called...so I popped for the extra $20 for the Federal, but I'm still skeptical...

I'd like to know who the OE supplier was...I'll get that when this one fails next year...:lol2:

Morale of the story...as always...cheaper always costs more in the long run.

You can go to a place like Applied Hydraulics or Dixie Bearing and buy a bearing made in the U S or Canada I've done this and had good success.
Old line companies are going foreign be careful.

wait, theres an aftermarket for luminas??? why didnt anyone tell me??!!

I have installed several from NAPA over the past few years. Some of them have over 100g on them with no problems. Others are strictly short mile transport vehicles (appx.20g in 4 years ), but no complaints yet.
