Question : How to paint/decal container ?

I'm building this truck. Anybody got an idea how to get the CAST marking on the container surface ?

Your best bet would be a decal IMHO but your real problem is that it will need to be an ALPS pronted decal as regular printers won't print white.

A simpler solution would involve making a photoshop/illustrator/word (whatever program you can find with the proper font) and print it out on paper in the size you need. Then use it as a pattern to hand cut your own letters out of white decal film. Fortunately the pattern is not terribly complicated- I'd say it would be less difficult than many CF patterns. Sorry, but I don't see it as being particularly exotic or complicated (I'm a lazy and cheap geezer by nature :lol:). I don't know about the USA but plotting/cutting is a readily available service at most copy shops here in Poland :D

Same file needed for both our approaches, I just would feel better with the precision of a machine cut. But you are right that the pattern is not complicated :thumbsup:

LOL You won't need a tankcontainer - one bottle will be more than enough IMHO

Make sure you test on a spare piece of decal paper first to see how it reacts to Sol - some are rather resistant and others wilt at the sight of the bottle. No rules to this except TEST FIRST.

A wet paper tissue heated in the microwave and then placed on the decal is also a quite good way to get them to conform.

I was also thinking about this yesterday and it occured to me to that in the photo you show it is hard to tell if the logo is painted on teh 1/1 in such a way so as to account for the extra width needed by the corrugation to the keep the logo optically true to the flat version when viewed straight on or does it become "squashed". When you make the file, it might be neccessary to stretch the logo on the x-axis to account for this? (I hope I have managed to convey what I mean? :s)
