I've had my Caprice advertised for sale in the local classifieds lately, because I am moving off the island in December... I didn't expect any serious offers for at least a month, but in less than a week I had two very serious offers. Still I thought, I might get another week with my car before someone brought any money, plus I hadn't installed any of the bumper fillers or wheel trim yet. To my surprise two older gentlemen came with cash in hand on Tuesday evening. Now there is a big empty spot where I used to parked her. She never broke down and never cost me much at all to maintain. I will miss that small block rumble, rwd and spacious interior, plus the hours I spent working on the car. This forum was a great source of information, inspiration and advice with my Caprice, thanks to all! Hope to own one of these again one day, what a car! Good bye ol' friend...

Which is probably a good reason why the car sold so quickly. These cars are becoming scarcer each year, especially where you live, and those guys probably knew that and jumped at the chance to own one. They don't make them like they used to.

"They don't make then like they used to" is right. Its too bad. Thats why i'm never getting rid of my caprice. I mean other than ford/mercury there really are no more rwd full size american sedans with big v8 engines. Its too bad chevy gave up on teh caprice. I still have hope that they'll make a comeback and maybe especially since gas prices are down.

Oh, I wouldn't have sold my caprice if I had a choice, I think it has passed on to someone who will continue to take care of and improve her.
But, with all the news about the 'big 3' sinking, I look at GM's line up rather strangely - the FWD Impala and its platform cousins, which are nothing special and not particularly economical are now looking quite long in the tooth are just not driving people to the showrooms. Then sitting in Cadillacs stable is the answer, the CTS architecture. The current Impala is now dated and doesn't even begin to look forward as far as I am concerned. Chevrlolet should take that CTS/DTS platform and strip out as much as possible and build a simple Rear Drive car for the masses, maybe even start with an existant V6 and even a super economical diesel, think 40+ mpg and gobs of torque. Asides from Cadillac's inovation, GM is going nowhere with their current line up of cars and unlike the last 15 years, they can't rely on their SUV/truck line up anymore. People just aren't buying... If they are coming up with great products in Europe, middle East and Australia (where the CTS platform came from) Why the hell can't they build a good car in the USA?????? WAKE UP GM!
