How do I give my car more speed?

I was given this old, decaying, Honda Accord 1995 LX, and the awesome thing is that my dad said that if I could pass my driver's test, he would pay to have it tricked out.
Problem is, I have not idea what to tell the guy at the garage what to do with it!
My main overall goal is to make it go faster, so that I can start my career. I was wondering what I should have done to it so that it will race.
PS. Do not try telling me to get a better, or another ride, because if I want to race
in this car. It's good enough for me, so it's good enough for the streets.
PPS. I wanted to street race, in case "it's good enough for the streets"
didn't tip you off. I'm in it for something faster, with the radio and stuff still
in it. (Mainly, because all "professional" motor sports ie. nascar, F1, F2, etc...
the cars look kinda uncomfortable on the insides, but the prob is it's not
changeable, because (I think) there's rules on mods and safety.
PPPS. Don't try talking me out of it, because I want to street race.
And, from a safety standpoint, I really don't care and here's why:
We've all got to go sometime, and I personally don't want to die
in the bathroom of a heart attack, like my 69-year old grandma did.
When I die of a terrible, disfiguring, horrible, yet impressively driven
car crash, I'm taking my car with me!

But are you taking someone else's life too? You can't just think about yourself you know. And how long have you been driving? Learn to drive before you mod. And how the hell do you make money street racing??
What kind of engine do you have(specifics)? auto? manual?(if not buy a manual tranny for it first). Tires, Brakes, Wieght elimination(thats why professional racecars dont have that comfort stuff) , and Suspension Then maybe more power

I recommend that you slow your roll. No reason to get on somebodies case right off the bat. You're already 2 posts in and you're not making friends.

join NASA. its a car racing club(like SCCA) and has honda only events...and you can win money and get sponsers to help build a ride. i'm not for street racing anymore(freidns have died), but here's some advice, i'm not your father.
if your honda is an atx, get a different car, putting a mtx in isn't so straight foward. lx's are 4drs i believe(hate honda's) why do you wanna street race that? a 2dr neon would be quicker.
but if you must, intake and exhaust, they'll free up some power(not a lot), short shift to make shifting quicker(5spd only). for weight reduction and retaining some comfort, sell the standard seats and buy 2 racing comfort seats for the car(come with some cushion and cloth). remove the back seats(heavier than most think). if your dad is paying, carbon fiber hood, fenders, and bumpers(if they sell em for the accord). al that lost weight up front will also give it more of an equal balance front to back. lighter/16 or 17" wheels, with a 225 width would work best for corner grip for an accord. i'm not sure what's really out there for the accord, but being it's an honda, id assume anything. find a good racing chip...not the $20 ebay one's, i'm talking 4-500 for a single one. better flywheel and clutch(light weight/higher power rating).
i do not condon sreet racing, but the kid asked and i answered...besides by the time his dad puts the money up for the parts, the kid will have some driving experience, and the mods i listed won't give him more than 170hp.
and knowing what engine, and trans you have would help a lot too. an lx had a v6 option i think

Thanks, guys. The main reason I wanted to press the point that I'm
not worried all that much about safety, is because I (personally)
don't see why there's so many people who are so afraid of death,
when (unless they're just an innocent bystander, or haven't done or
agreed to anything of this nature) they knew exactly what they were
getting into when they didn't want to race in a well-equipped track,
so they started racing on the bare streets. I wanted to just press that
I personally don't care for my OWN safety (which is why I'll be the only
one in the car at any race in it.) But, I just wanted to live to race, and die
in a race.
PS. yes, I am insane. And I am also fearless, yet not fearless on
the road just yet.

Seeing that you are "fearless" at this point in your life basically is just a hormonal thing. As you made it sound, your pops will buy fix your car up for you if you pass the driver's test. Given that, you sound like you are about 16 years of age (and beleive me, we all felt invincible at that age). But you must realize immaturity doesn't help at all in a street race. You have to be smart about it. Choose open roads, not public streets. Not packed civilian areas. Hell, I wouldn't even try it on the freeway with just a few vehicles spread around me.
If you want to live, but die in a race, then go to the track. Have your car rigged to blow up halfway down the 1/4 mile. Chances are, if you wouldn't mind dying in a race, there's no telling who you'll take with you if you managed to get into a fatal accident. Granted you don't care about your OWN safety, that's pretty reckless to those around you. And no matter what you say, you can NEVER PREDICT the outcome of an accident with anybody around you on the streets.
In all honesty, be mature. If you want to enjoy street racing and the thrill, why not try to do it saftely. The longer the live, the longer you'll be racing for. Most of us here in this forum were doing it at your age, but the older your get the more intelligent you become from experience. But not just your own experience, you'll learn from those who surround you.
In the end, be smart about it all. Show some rationality to your decisions to race. Plus, if you think about it, dying in a race would only build more negative hype to the racing scene altogether. Which is the main reason why it is so frowned upon by communities everywhere. Also, think about your parents, family and friends would feel if you actually told them what you told us in here. Just don't be an idiot and go about things the right way.

That should be enough... I gave enough +1's for the age you need to be when you can make an informed decision about "street racing." From the sound of it you may even need a few more.

im pretty sure you dad is prob jsut talking about some wheels and thats it. nothing more. ffs, you are jsut about to turn 16 and want to street race? its normal for someone to do so, but relax a sconds, i got some more info.
Problem is, I have not idea what to tell the guy at the garage what to do with it!
My main overall goal is to make it go faster, so that I can start my career. I was wondering what I should have done to it so that it will race.
anything can go faster if you throw money at it. question is what are your realistic goals. do you jsut want to go fast in a straight line of are you talking about being fast around a circuit track? maybe fast around cones in a lot?
if you want it to go faster, you will need to know how everything works. what every part does, how its effect on everything is. luckily, you have a fairly common car that is modded, so you can find that info very easily. its not always power that is fast, weight has a lot to do with it too.
PS. Do not try telling me to get a better, or another ride, because if I want to race

PPS. I wanted to street race, in case "it's good enough for the streets"

:evillol::evillol::evillol:
ok. race in the car. i wont change your mind. but i'll tell you this, get active in your local scca autox. you can legally race you car around a course full of cones and not have to worry about running from the cops. you will learn how to drive better, and understand 'speed.' im pretty sure you can go to your local drag strip(provided you have one) and do high school drags and have fun running in a bracket class.
this way you wont have to worry about getting your car crushed.

lol...I like the fact that your gonna call it a career...
if this is gonna be a career, know your cars, learn the theory behind what makes a car go faster. If its on the streets or at the track all the best people know their engines inside out. It's not speed that gets you killed its ignorance and lack of respect for the car.
Have a healthy respect for the scene, watch, learn and do the research. The only people who remember deaths are those who were affected by it, everybody els will soon forget about that dumbass who wrapped his car around a tree.....

PS. yes, I am insane. And I am also fearless, yet not fearless on

I need to adjust the sights on my G3 Clone...
You wouldn't happen to be fearless of a 7.62mm NATO round would you? I just need someone to run around for a few seconds while I zero her in at around 100 yards. You'll get all the same adrenaline rush and chance of death as you will from street racing, in a slight safer to the public arena.
Oh, and just because your rat shit Honda is good enough for you does not make it good enough for the streets. Cuz we run the streets. And we run them hard. Long and hard. Bitch.
But, I just wanted to live to race, and die

All right Dom. Go live your life a quarter mile at a time. Hell, in that rat shit Accord, for those 45 seconds or so you'll be free as a bird. And if you want to die in a race, just take it up to 80 and put it into a wall on the side of the free way. Just don't do it in rush hour.

o i know, in all non seriousness, red and yellow stickers, and bunch more from companies who make parts but none of which are on your car.
btw, honda, yea, good cars, but unless you pour money into them, they'll never own a street. better of with a 240sx. they have crazy engine options, suspension upgrades, good weight, good power. the perfect upstart car.
you'll never make a career of street racing, maybe a few hundred on a good friday or saturday night, if you win.
