Service Engine Soon light

I just purchased a 96 Tahoe, 12 hours after driving it home, the service engine soon light came on. Then the fuel pump went out... well, the fuel pump has been replaced, but the service engine soon light is still on... any thoughts? do i need to take it into a dealer to have em turn it off or is something still wrong?

could i purchase the diagnostic tool? i just spent 1100 on the down payment and 600 on the fuel pump, so i dont really have the money to find out if it is something else... could it just be that the oil needs to be changed? like a reminder type thing? is there a way to reset it, so if it goes on again, i would know something was definately wrong?

light went out, just needed to reset.
