crazy automatic climate control problems (1992 PA)

Hey everyone,

A while back I had a paperclip fall into an open cigarette lighter socket, which promptly blow a fuse and caused my automatic climate control panel to flip out. After I replaced the fuse it seemed like everything was ok, but a few days ago it started reading really high tempatures on the external temp readout.

It'll start out saying its 49 out, then rapidly shot up to 149 where itll stay. I doesnt seem to be reading engine heat as its done it when the engine was still cool. Tonight I tried pushing "AUTO" and "off" back and further and it eventually cleared out and went to 50. Its done this a few times, so Im thinking I fried some circuit in the comfort control computer.

Soooo, does this sound like the control units bad, or something else? I was also wondering if I can downgrade my automatic system to a standard manual climate control system out of a 92 lesabre? I really hate the automatic system anyways.

Thanks,
Josh

You should try a new outside temp sensor. They only cost about 15-bucks.

It is located in front of the radiator, lower portion of the center brace.

It looks like this:
Standard Motor Products Temperature Sensor
Part #AX27
