AC/Defroster Issue - '00 Altima

On my '00 Altima, whenever I run my windshield defroster, the AC compressor always gets turned on. This is true even when I de-select the 'AC' button on my control panel, and even occurs when I move the temperature setting all the way to HOT! Is this a normal occurance? I'm baffled! :banghead:

Yes, this is normal. It keeps the compressor cycled thru the winter months. If you turn off the ignition then it will not come back on until you select defrost again.
