This is kinda strange, I'm a huge fan of Initial D and yet I don't know who makes it. Anyone got an idea on who does? As you can see I have started a club called Team Lonely Drivers, I would like to just make sure I cover my ass and they are cool with me using something from their show.

Shuichi Shigeno is the one who created Initial D and it was published but Kodansha.

do you know a way to contact them, or a place to find out? If not, thanks for the info

if you're starting a club, i'm not sure there's an issue with using the name...
and besides, it's in japan, so the copyright laws wouldn't be the same as over here.
if it comes down to it, claim ignorance...

Yea, see I was also wondering that about the copyright. I can't recall watching a episode of Initial D that said anything about copyrights, but also i haven't watched the tapes or DVDs. But yea, I could claim ignorance, just trying to show some respect by at least trying.

just put up a disclaimer stating that your site is not an official site and thats its for entertainment purposes and that Initial D is copyrighted by Shigeno Shuichi, Kodansha, to'max,OB Kikaku, and i think you also gotta include Tokyo Pop since they got the US license.

yes, but see ragnorak. Its not just a site, its a club, a club that is about to get big once we get these things figured out. I already have a lot more people just waiting, people waiting to start chapters, etc. So see, I understand what you are saying there, and that would probably work if it was just a site, but we are also a club, and I don't think that will work as well.
I have e-mail TokyoPop asking them abuot it, I did that yesterday, no word from them yet.

i dont think youd have a prob with a club its just the same as message boards, just as long as theres no money involved you should be fine. but its probably best to wait for Tokyo Pops reply first to be on the safe side.
