The Doors

I was wondering, how do you change the color of the doors and stuff, like the cloth parts? You cant paint em, can you?

yeah i was wondering the same thing. I want to git rid of the carpet on both my doors and the carpet on the center console of my car and as far as i know you can't do it. I figure i could take it off and stich vinyl over it but i don't know about painting or coloring any carpet stuff.

You can dye it with automotive dye or you can take the carpet off and stretch vinyl or what ever kind of material you like over it.

When you dye it, do you have to take the carpet off, or is there a way to just dye it on the door?

If you want it all smooth then you have to take the carpet off and fill in the gaps with foam. Not spray foam if you go to an Automotive interior shop and ask them they can show you if they arn't dicks. Its foam that comes in rolls I'd never seen it before I started doing interiors so I don't know of any place that sells it besides and Upholstery supplier or something. Well have fun, just remember if you don't clean it good, and I mean really good the paint will flake off.

okay im confused.. what tha hell does that mean.. u gotta do what w/ waht foamy stuff?

Basically you get the foam and glue in the gaps or spaces you don't want and sand it smooth. You can basically use it like you do bondo for body work, thats how Upholester's put designs in door panels and stuff, they glue down the foam and cut out the shapes they want and round the edges so the material lays down smooth. This is by no means easy, it took me a good while to learn how to do with someone there trying to show me but if you want to try it good luck
