I recently changed the starter on my 2002 cavalier and i touched a wire to a medal wrench and it started to spark, didn't think anything of it so i put it back together and started just fine works. But when i was driving it around it started to sputter and my batter light came on and air bag light came on and lights dimmed on and off. IS this a problem with my computer? and if so can i reset it myself or do i have to take it to a mechanic?

Hi. First off, try not to put please help in the subject line. It's to generic.
Electrical problems may be better.
Anyway, I would check the ground to the motor and the power (red) wire coming from the alternator. Also, the battery connections right at the battery.
If this fixes the problem but the battery goes dead, you may have damaged the alternator or battery itself depending on what wire you shorted.
Around here, Battery sellers will do a free charging check of your system.
Good luck.

There is a reason the first step for most jobs is "disconnect the negative battery cable".

What's the alternator charging to? Also check the body ground if that's what you sparked to.
