has any one in here heard of put ing a b20a5 rotating assembly in a b18a1 and that makes it a home made strocker kit?

measure the crank's main bearing diameter... if it's the same as the B18A1, you can do it, as long as the cranks are the same length.

You'll also need to find out the rod length, etc of the B20 to make sure that they won't stick out the top of the b18. Find out also if the B18 rods have the same big-end bore as the B20A5.

I"ve never personally heard of this... I know the B20B crank would work though.

Are you sure about the b20b? Because I know it uses a different "Siamese" cylinder walla style, I would wonder if the bore center would be the same. Then again, the bore on the b20 is wider so that could explain how they could still be spaced the same apart and still use the Siamese walls.

The B20B crank is the same as the B18B crank (same rods too). I'm not sure what the relation to the B18A1 is, between it and the B18B & B20B though.

You heard wrong. The B20A is from the early model year Prelude. It is not like the B series we all know. (B18, B20B/Z, B16). It shares no common parts with any other B series motor.

What is it exactly you are trying to do?

He wants to make a "stocker" kit.

I heard about it on www.ef-honda.com (http://www.ef-honda.com) that there is a way to put the crank, rods, and pistons out of the b20a5 in a b18a1 and it is to be the same or even better than an ls/vtec i just want to know if any of yall have heard of it and or like what kris was saying that they put the wrong info on that fourm and i think it might work i have an extra b18a block laying around and thought and i know a guy that has a b20b laying around

Okay, well, you could do it if you are into spending money one machine work.

You can use a B20A5 crank, which has a stroke of 95 mm (3.74") and use B16 rods, which have a length of 137mm (5.394"). This setup would give you a rod/stroke ratio of 1.44, which isn't the best for high revving engine. Not really reliable for a street driven car. Als0, the B20a5 cranks have a 1.889" rod journal, and a b18 or b16 has a 1.771" rod journal. The main journals are the same. But the rod journals are a different story.

So, like I said. They will not fit, and they still do not share any parts with the typical B series.

But, can you make it work? Sure, it's been done before. But the guys doing it were not asking internet forums how to do it. They already had the tools and know how.
