:banghead: I have a 2002 LS and I have trans issues (i have a post about it) and I have been thinking about putting in 5 spd manual, but Im not sure how much work is involved. I'm a mechanic and have done many conversions in other cars and trucks but Im not sure whats available for my LS. If you know what tranys with work and where to find parts I would like your feedback. Thanks in advance. -Art-:banghead:

Is your LS a V6 or V8? The V6 was available as a 5-speed manual, and since the V6 and V8 use the same automatic, I suspect the same manual transmission would work as well. I'm not sure the manual would handle the power of the V8 though.

Also, so many of the various computers are tied together, I think you'd be in for an electrical nightmare trying to get everything to play together. You can't just change the PCM to a PCM for a manual because the PCM is programmed to the PATS system and the GEM, probably the Driver's Door Module, Front Electronics Module, and Rear Electronics Module as well.

You'd probably have far more into it with a conversion by the time you were done than what it would cost you to cut your losses on this car, sell it with a bad transmission, and purchase a manual transmission LS that came that way from the factory. The acceleration of the V6 manual was very comparable to that of the V8.
