hello steve;
I have a 94 pontiac grand prix, this is what i did,I thought about doing it myself. I think this is what you want to do. these things are complicated and hard to install. Tons of wires to hook up. i have a special key with that little chip in the key. they need to install a special modual to bypass the key chip. I had the trunk release modual installed too ,this is a great option to have.What i did , Went to Circuit City. they do installs like this,usually the same day you go into the store if you want. But go when they open up. The store i went to is in Dayton, Ohio. if you go and talk to these guys, Ask the guy how long they have installed the Auto-start systems.this is a plus. A guy that has alot of experience in this type of install is a real plus. the man that installed mine had 14 years experience . If you want it done right,let a pro do it.Im really glad that i had them do it. I got a lifetime warrenty with mine. had mine now for 6 months and i love it. the install was done in about 3 hours, no wireing showing, everything is hidden. my system locks-unlocks the doors,starts the car, pops the trunk..I should of done it years ago. the total cost was around
$250.00 ,had to add 2 extra moduals-key and trunk mod.one was $75 trunk mod was 25. you will be alot more satisfied if you let a pro do it.if anything goes wrong,go back to the store and let them take care of the problem.
the unit that i have is; PYTHON--1400XP. you get 2 remotes too.
