03 Monte Carlo TRANS PROBLEM

Hi, I have a 2003 Monte Carlo with 101,000 miles on it. After I drive it and get the engine warmed up, it starts to shift hard. My check engine light is NOT on. I have taken it to transmission places to see what could be wrong but they couldn't find any codes or anything. (Should I warm up my car (http://forums.automotive.com/70/7162498/transmission/2003-monte-carlo-trans-problem/index.html#) and make it shift hard and then have them code it?)

I got my car warmed up and I checked the trans fluid and it didn't smell burnt or anything but it was a little too high and i saw bubbles on the dipstick? I heard that the pressure control solenoid could be the problem but wouldn't my engine light be on?

I'm really trying to get this fixed so could someone PLEASE help me. Thanks a lot.

Welcome to AF. The pcs is the usual cause here, but without a full trans scan done by a good trans tech, while driving, the diagnosis can be difficult.

Thank you.

Do you think a code will show up if I warm up my car (and make it shift hard) and have them scan it while driving?

Maybe not, but they will see the solenoid activity plus other indicators.

yeah i had the same problem last summer. when the car got warmed up and after i drove about 10 miles it would shift hard into each gear. they ended up having to rebuild the transmission. sorry for the bad news. oh and mines a 2003 LS.

I have an extended warranty that covers transmission and everything. Does that help at all?

Yes of course ,use it.

I'll try because I know AAMCO honors extended warranties, but if my 'check engine light' isn't on or anything, I wouldn't think the warranty company would pay to rebuild my tranny. Or would they? I don't know a whole lot about warranties.

Please let me know because I need this to be over with. By the way, thanks a lot to the people responding, it means a lot.

Take it to them and tell them what's what, what other way is there with the warranty.
