99 GA steering pump help

I'm planning on putting in a new power steering pump in my sisters car tomorrow. It's a '99 Grand Am, GT, with the 3800 with Ram Air.

It appears to be cracked, as you can see where the "wet" starts on the side of the pump under the reservoir ( but not FROM it ), and so neatly bubbles when the car is running and you try to turn the wheels.

I replaced this long ago on my grand prix, does anyone have any tips, or happen to know off hand what size of torx bit I'll need to get the pulley off?

Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks

Well, if it is a grand am, it isnt a 3800, well, not naturally. The powersteering replacement is posted in the tips and matinence section.

Welcome to AF Riven !

Here is the thread on this pump replacement, not as easy as your GP.

Hope that helps

Well..

She had the car, then had a new engine put in it... that guy was an idiot and messed it up, so about a month later, she had ANOTHER new engine put in it...

Something I didn't consider... perhaps we'll need another pump that the one that "goes" to her car. Perhaps we'll pull it, and take it in to get a new one to be sure!

I bought a brand new toyota about 4 years ago, so it's been a while since I've had to do anything except change plugs, filters and oil, and in the last month everyone's cars have been breaking down it seems!

If you guys think it might be something OTHER than the pump needing replaced, I'm all ears. Nothing like fixing something that's not broken!

Ok you might just need a new resevoir, if it is the part thats cracked and leaking.
Though you still need to remove the pump to swap out the new resevoir. Still a cheaper fix then the hole pump, they are pricey!
