I recently purchase one of the school cars and when to the big track at Willow Springs last Friday, Lots of fun driving the car. Problems 1. Need new windshield, it cracked, The problem I think is that the wiper motor and the windshield touch when and if the car flex's?? I have been told that the windshield is from a 1995 Mustang can any one confirm this, anyone know where can I get a lexan windshield? 2. What brake pads are best? 3. Are there kits available to rebuild the calipers? Where is a good place to get new rotor's. Thanks for your help.

My windshield is cracked down the right side and I have just left it that way. I have a spare that came w/ the car in my shed. They apparently come from a SN95 mustang (94-98).
I purchased brake rotors from Panoz directly... they're PFC brand. I'm running the school pads as they're an endurance racing compound and suit my type of use (HPDEs) as they last forever.
Not sure on caliper rebuild kits.

I have gone thru two glass windshields in less than a season. I am now in the process of installing a lexan Unit. You can order one from www.percyshp.com (http://www.percyshp.com). The blems are 60% off and looks fine. Good luck

I know the SN95 (all years 94-03) windshields will fit, I had a 99 put in mine at in April and it held up just fine all season. The key is having a professional install it with good "glue". Careful not to tighten down the hold-down to tight (those are not meant to hold the windshield in... finger tight with a rubber pad on the back touching the glass). Even a Pro will not guarantee the windshield from cracking in these cars.
Lexan - Summit Racing
Pads - Personal choice. I like Performance Friction 01 compound (race ready, no beading needed). I use 3 set of Rear for every set of Front (think I need to install a bias adjuster this winter).
Caliper rebuild kit - hope someone has part numbers, I would like to do both front and rear this winter.

I've used Shields for Lexan Windshields in the past. 1/4" coated is about $430. Not sure how their pricing compares but, I was satisfied with the product and the customer service was great.

For rebuild kits you should be able to get them here...
http://www.zeckhausen.com/Brembo/Consumables.htm#Rebuild
We have Brembo F40 calipers
for Brembo F40 calipers you can use Stoptech seals and boots. They are a direct fit. The P/N of the F40 caliper is actually 20.4862.05/06 for trailing-mount calipers. The F40 uses 44/38mm pistons

Front caliper Lg. piston seals (dust boot)40 mm – 20487244 (2 req. per caliper)
Front caliper Sm. piston seals (dust boot) 36 mm – 20487246 (2 req. per caliper)
105595556 pressure seal pack (o-rings) (Qty. 1 were on the packing list for redoing the front pair of calipers)
105595558 pressure seal pack (o-rings) (Qty. 1 were on the packing list for redoing the front pair of calipers)
the last time I replaced these I wrote all of the above down.

Thanks for all the help, I ordered a windshield from Percy and will be ordering a rebuild kit for the brake system. I notice that Brian has a tag that suggest he has a 427 ? cup killer, my last track car was a cup car, they are fast cars, I think the Panoz will be a lot more fun in the cornors. Brian can you tell me if it's 427 hp or 427 ci.?? I am hoping that once I purchase a new engine that I might be as fast on the straight away as a cup car. Any suggestions on what type of engine and hp would be good. Thanks

^ He's got a 351 stroker (427 cubes) that makes upwards of 800hp at full boogie on an engine dyno, but he can elaborate on that :)
We're building up our 302 to about 400 horses trying to get equal performance to the Z06 Corvettes we've been tracking for the past 5 years.

Sort of...easy there with the 800 stuff (we would bend a chassis at that level)....we put 450 (500 flywheel) to the ground. We built a motor that could do 800 flywheel but it wouldnt last like we wanted. We wanted a motor that would last 100+ hours without thinking about it. So we detuned and detuned untill the engine was so starved for fuel it barely would idle and that was the ticket. We run a tiny little carb (390 cfm) if you can believe it. Combine that with a restricted intake and we are perfect. The car is very competitive with 996's. A 997 with a GREAT driver and I think you might need a little more. It is hard to say. We dice with the 997/996 every event and WIN. They hate us in Florida. We love it :lol2: :loser: !!! If we changed to a 650cfm carb we jump to 530 (600 flywheel) to the ground and then we have a monster on our hands (carb is in the trailer waiting for that ass that pisses us off...takes about 20 minutes and we jump almost 100ponies...I love muscle cars). It was harder to drive with 530hp and we ate rear tires. The cup cars had NO chance. We also run much wider tires then stock and you NEED it.
Search my posts and you find all the specs and everything. I have tested these motors for a few years in 2 cars and I have the pkg and the builder. I highly recommend our pkg. if you want to target 997/996's. We have gone thru 4 diff. engine builders and specs since 2004 and this is the ONE!
