water pump???

98 chevy lumina.We just put in a new water pump and now the speedometer is not working and there was like a clicking sound and now the belt is shreaded.

Ok the belt was shreaded b/c the cover to the water pump was not on tight enough,but why is the speedometer not working now?????

Welcome to AF, tough question since you have the car and did the work, look around for some wire loose or pulled adjacent to where you worked, there should be no connection but there is no way to tell from here what you may have disturbed.
