Honda CB750F Custom Tuned

This time I wanted to build a motorcycle before it's 2009.

I have some nice bike kits but I wanted to do something simple.

I think this Honda CB750F from Tamiya is the right bike. It's already a bit of custom tuned and maybe I'll add some new parts or better parts on it.

The instructions says it must be silver, but my silver paint is empty so I will paint it Ice Blue from DupliColor.

I think it's a nice bike, and I always love to build bikes.

Last days I started on this kit.

I readed the instructions, and saw that many parts needs te same color. So I collected all parts and separate them. Now I could paint all the parts.

First I removed the moldinglines and flash. Some parts were glued together before painting them.

The fueltank and front (mudguard?) are 2 separated parts. So after glued them together I had to fill up the gap with some putty.

The exhaust system also needed some putty. After sanding it I painted it semigloss black.

First I painted all parts semigloss black:

Some parts needs to be chromesilver/flat aluminium. So I painted them with semigloss silver which looks like flat chrome (like fujimi wheels etc.) Other parts like the discbrakes are painted with chromespray (motip).

The frameparts needed to be gloss black. But I didn't have any, so I painted it semigloss black and clearcoated it later.

The carburators and rearshocks are painted with Mica Silver.

The exhaust was painted semigloss after some puttywork.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/alles_gespoten_006_%28Medium%29.jpg

The bodyparts are first painted with primer and after that it got 4 layers of Ice Blue/Silver.

Meanwhile I added the decals and clearcoated it, but pics will come later

I added the decals on the bodyparts and other parts. I also clearcoated the bodyparts 3 times.

Now I will wait a few days before polishing the paint. Meanwhile I can paint some details on the other already painted parts.

New update:

First I painted the centers of the discbrakes with gun metal.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/velgen_en_blok_001_%28Medium%29.jpg

I also painted and finished the rearshocks.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/velgen_en_blok_002_%28Medium%29.jpg

I painted some chromesilver on the wheels and wheeltrims for a polished look. After that I glued them together and placed the tyres on them.

http://albums.modelbrouwers.nl/coppermine/albums/userpics/10027/velgen_en_blok_004_%28Medium%29.jpg

I also start to build the engine. Everything was already painted so it went very easy. I also painted the cooling(ribs?) in chrome for a polished look, and started with some wiring.

It goes well together when you already painted all parts :D

Next step is place the engine in the frame.

This looks great. I love that ice blue. How did you do the chrome trim on the wheels - with the side of a brush? Anyway, keep going, I'm liking this build!

No I didn't use a brush, but a Gundam silver/chrome paint marker. It works great and its very easy :D No masking is needed.
