...so.....I understand it will eventually start, as it seems implied that it will start better once warmed up....
..for some reason, mine will start immediately on second attemp when cold, but not on the first..I think the fuel line pressure empties when at rest (and indeed I have a small external leak at fuel pump unit) so the initial "primer" does not exist. On the second try, line has had time to pressure up during first attempt and then it starts right away...
and yes, I'd have thought of the temp sensor as a "false" high reading will keep the mixture too lean for an easy cold start.
..would it be possible that the EGR valve stays partly opened?....

Hi everyone
I have a 2002 kia sportage 2.0 16v,i bought it as a non runner and changed the head gasket. Now when i try to start it i have to connect it to a battery booster and turn it over for around 5-10 minutes with my foot flat on the accelerator to get it to start. When it starts it seems to run ok but i have to keep my foot on the accelerator or it will cut out then will take another 5-10 mins to re-start.Does anyone know what resistance the cam and crank sensors should read when tested?.Iv triple checked the timing and it looks spot on.Iv plugged it into my fault code reader and it comes up with codes pl505,pl507,pl611 throttle malfunction1.Since then i realised id put put the wrong leads on the idle control valve and throttle position sensor so that may cure a couple of codes.According to my code reader its firing at 63 degrees btdc does anyone know why it would do this? Also does anyone know where i can get a cam sensor from..Any help would be appreciated...thanks phil....PHIL15432@HOTMAIL.CO.UK
