Brake caliper bolt holes stripped

I recently bought a 1997 Oldsmobile Achieva SL 2.4L with 135k miles that has been sitting for nearly 8 months because I was desperate for a car.

The most immediate problem with the car is the holes that the bolts thread into to secure the brake caliper in place are stripped out (on the passenger side). So I guess my two options are to either replace the part the has the bolt holes in it or possibly remove it and have it drilled and re-tapped.

Can anyone tell me the name of part the caliper bolts to so I can try to find one from a salvage yard. Also, can anyone tell me what is involved in removing it so that I can replace it or have it fixed? I want to replace it myself if possible.

Thanks.

Welcome to AF!

That would be called the caliper mounting braket. I would not suggest taping it, just replace it.
Should be two bolts holding it onto the steering knuckle.

Sorry for the delayed reply.
