Revell of Germany kit, Tires from the Cobra Revell kit, Added plug wires, PE hardware, and seatbelts. All Intake stacks on engine are made from Aluminum tubing as well as the exhaust tips are made from 2 sizes of aluminum tubing. Paint is PPG "hellrot" a
BMW color followed by Dupont Chromaclear. One of my favorite Ferraris! The kit had its challenges, but it builds up fairly well! No the doors, hood, and rear trunk do not fit well closed so this is the way it will be displayed most of the time. :)

I consider this the most beautiful Ferrari ever and your work does justice to that. This seems to be the original PROTAR kit.
Congratulations

if we discard the fact that this revell kit, along with the protar version, sports an inaccurate tail from the GTO...i would say this is a thunderous build & showroom shine!
i cringe on this inaccuracy, not discovered by me though, resurfaces everytime i look at these 2 kit builds.
you have done justice in this, not on the car itself but the skills you have on such a high level build!
cheers!

Awesome job! I love it!
One of the best builds of the Revell kit I have seen.
It's a shame that the parts don't fit any better. These Revell kits might be cheaper but that doesn't mean they shouldn't fit together better.
(To be fair: some of their newer kits fit together perfectly)

This model is accurate; the 1:1 GTO that this particular model is patterned after was wrecked in a previous life and the repaired/reconstructed body is out of proportion. I've seen pics of the real car; this one looks correct. Not that it makes it attractive...but the Revell/Protar kit gets unfairly panned because the real car is mis-proportioned. Let's be glad that the Fujimi kit was patterned after one of the well-proportioned GTO's
And Dave, it looks great in person! It's funny that so many people think the wheels are metal & PE vs. kit components. Thanks for coming, always enjoy seeing you and your incredible models at the show. It was a lot of fun, can't wait for next year.

Please tell me which GTO looks like this. I've understood that original Protar molds were patterned after 3851gt from Maranello Rosso Collection. The tail is nothing like the Protar/Revell GTO. Most of the other GTO:s can be judged here (http://www.barchetta.cc/All.Ferraris/by-serial-number/ferrari-by-serial-number/model-index-60-64/model-summary/250-gto-index/index.html).
Having said that, the model itself is really the best that i've seen built from the P/R kit. Most pic angles make me forget the misproportioned tail.

Thanks Bob for the clarification, It looks off on the rear panel but other than that and the window frames, with a little TLC ( and new tires) the car makes a beautiful replica... I too enjoyed the show.....
Thanks to all who replied to this car... its not a bad kit!

Dave did you have a lot of clean up work on the body?
I just dug this kit out of my stack (thanks for the inspiration) and it's a mess!
Great build with a perfect finish!

I am going to build the same kit soon, I hope mine comes out close to yours. Otherwise I'll be really jealous!

I had the same thought about the wheels...they looked too good to be kit pieces. Regardless, fantastic job--it really does look like a high-dollar multi-media kit. -although that's probably what it is by now :P

Dave,
Your talent is plain to see with this build from a Revell/Protar kit. Not just another great build from you - another talent redefining build from you! All the best to you on your future projects, too.
