Im having problems with the headlight switch on my 01 Escort. The brights only go on when I keep the handle pulled towards me. Could somebody tell how to replace the headlight switch in my car.

The Multi-Function Switch controls the headlights and turn signals. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait one minute for the backup power to run out.
Remove the 3 screws that hold the upper and lower steering shrouds in place.
Remove the 2 multifunction switch screws.
Disconnect the two electrical connectors and remove the switch.
This is for my 97. It should be similar for a 2001 which was the last year the 3rd generation Escort was manufactured.
The only difference is that you may have to take the steering wheel off to get to the shroud screws. Try the above first.
