Is there any way to diagnose a bad or starting to go bad steering box? Mine feels worn out. Truck wanders to the right even after an alignment. I am going to rotate the tires to see if that helps. My gut feeling says box.

IT MAY BE THAT THE STEERING BOX IS WORN
alignments usually adjust for right drift...this is common...I do my own alignments and this is correctable...
If the vehicle wanders this is usually tie rods or idle arms worn or rusted ...with both wheels off ground pry on these componets and grease and see if there is movement in the joints...
there are many HACK shops that will align you vehicle with worn componets...especially the tire shops...
insuffient toe will cause this type of steering...

Check the ptman arm and idler arm which are a common problem to go out.Get the Moog parts, comes with a lifetime warranty and Moog pays for the labor. If it is the steering box get a reman, you will waste your time rebuilding the old one.
