How is this deal?

I looked at an 04 Z71 ext. cab 4x4 5.3 liter today. The dealer listed it for 12,989. It is loaded and has 71,000 miles on it. The lowest they will go on the price is $11,700. What do you think of this price? I also found an 02 2500 4x4 ext. cab hd loaded with a K&N intake and dual exhaust with 100,546 for 10,989 but I would offer them less in cash.

on this type of vehicle I would offer 20% less than blue book value..

My area is loaded with these trucks ...as many need to down size....used vehicle lots here are low on high MPG vehicles...

play hard ball. dealers here will not take trucks for trade In's. every dealer is over stocked with low mileage trucks.

this does not change the facts...these lots of used trucks must move...smaller high MPG vehicles are moving...dealers/sales businesses must make deals...

also the value of the trucks are below manufactuing cost..you gotta be crazy to buy a new truck today...used is the very best way..to go...

With fuel now at $2.59, you have less leverage now than then.that may be true....for now, but anyone who thinks prices will not go back up are living in the land of Oz. Dealerships will deal to unload these high mileage gas burners.......hence a buyers market.

with gas today at 2.39 us /gal. these lower prices will hold for a time, and this may be a small window to unload your gas guzzlers to some one who needs such a vehicle to perform his revenue generating business...

or a person that is foulish enough to think the gas prices will stay low, and IT'S COOL TO OWN A TRUCK!!!!!

Come north of the border where we buy fuel by the litre. Americans see gas prices jump 5 -7 or 10 cents a gallon. we see prices jump 5-7 or 10 cents a liter translate that into gallons and see what you get. 2.39 a gal is good now but buying a truck is usually a long term deal. You are correct in what you say but IMO a high mileage gas guzzler is not worth much. I have one, paid a good coin for it ,looks real sharp but 2 years later I wouldn`t get anything near what I should.

It doesn't matter what others believe your truck is worth. If you need a truck to make a living then your top priority is to keep it maintained...
