Clanking noise when I turn right / reset warning - 2002 C230 Kompressor

Hi everyone! Three things...
1. I replaced my brake pads a few days ago and can't figure out how to reset the "brake lining warning" on the instrument panel. Anyone know the secret trick to this?
2. Every time I make a right turn there is a loud clank towards the rear of the car... pretty loud... sounds like its coming from underneath maybe?
3. I was adjusting the steering wheel column height and the damn lever pulled right out! Now the steering column is loose, shifts up and down, front and back. I'm so irritated... is there a cheap and dirty way to fix this myself?
MB clearly doesn't want anyone to save money by avoiding the dealership.
Thanks so very much for any help / advice...
