HI/LO Blower Relay

Okay,

I own a 95 Chevy 1500 truck and I guess if you own one these, you might know what i'm getting at. There are some wires behind the glove box that connect together by a black connector. So if I'm running my fan and I disconnect those wires, the fun stops. My point is that the connector that connects those wire together went bad a couple of months ago. I had to go to the junkyard and cut one from a truck and splice it back to mine. Can anyone tell me what caused that to go bad. I do know that when connected, if I cut the fan on, those wires get warm and the higher I cut the fan on, the hotter they become. Could that be because of the HI/LO blower relay? I actually replaced my relay and its still doing the same thing. I don't know if those wires are just suppose to heat up like that or what. What I do know is that something is causing that. If anyone knows, please tell me.

If the wires look coiled, its probably just the resistors for the different speeds of the blower and the heat is normal from them dissipating the energy required to make the blower run slower
